Oxford Garden Club meets the first Thursday of each month except June, July, August, and December at the Oxford Community Center at 200 Oxford Road, Oxford, MD. Programs begin at 2pm.
Each month our club hosts speakers on interesting topics, “how to” demonstrators for those just learning a new skill, or an activity for all to enjoy. Members’ education and appreciation are the principal objectives of the programs.

Susie Middleton is the President of Federated Garden Clubs of MD, a Master Judge for Flower Shows, and has completed all 4 of the State Garden Club’s schools: Environmental, Gardening, Flower Shows and Landscape Design.

Birds of the Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake Bay is the world’s largest estuary, housing a huge number of birds. Some are year round residents, others are seasonal. Ron studies these often elusive, cagey creatures, taking prize winning photographs that he will share with us so we can learn about their lifestyles and behaviors without disturbing them.

Great Ground Covers

Ground covers are wonderful living “mulch” that doesn’t need mowing! Used by gardeners for generations, the commonly known Pachysandra, Vincas, and English Ivy are now considered invasive here in Maryland.
Fortunately, there wonderful ground covers that are native here! Learn about great native ground covers that you can plant to beautify your yard and reduce your gardening chores that won’t hurt the environment.
Dr. Rice will also discuss other easy methods of garden chore reduction…so you, too, can be a “lazy gardener.”
