Oxford Garden Club is active throughout the year beyond our monthly meetings. Our activities can range from field trips to growing food for a local food pantry. There’s always something to do and enjoy.
Below are the regularly occurring ongoing events that Oxford Garden Club puts on!
Lunch Bunch
Meals on Wheels serves millions of house-bound seniors nationwide, and Oxford’s Church of the Holy Trinity’s program brings these welcome nutritional boosts to Oxford’s stay-at-homes.
On special occasions, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and July 4th, Oxford Garden Club provides a special floral arrangement to accompany the meal (some members also provide assistance in cooking and serving the meals).

Museum Garden
Our club maintains the award-winning garden at the Oxford Museum in Oxford.

Community Garden
Our club plants and maintains a community vegetable garden in Easton, where we grow vegetables to donate to the local food pantry. Our efforts bring fresh, organic vegetables to the needy in our area.

Oxford Day Surrey Ride
Oxford Day celebrates the first day of operation of the Oxford/Bellevue ferry each year and the club celebrates the occasion too, joining the traditional parade with a florally decorated surrey propelled by the vigorous bicycling of the surrey’s riders. The surrey is decorated by members the day before the celebration, and is almost as much fun as the ride itself! For the first time in 2024, the club held a native species plant sale at the event.
Fine Arts Fair
Oxford’s Fine Arts Fair, held each year, is a showcase fundraiser for Oxford Community Center, where the club holds its monthly meetings. Each year the club creates spectacular floral arrangements – art in and of themselves – to support the effort.
Community Gardens
Oxford is blessed with many wonderful gardens easily viewed by a stroll through the “stroll friendly” town. The club maintains gardens at the Oxford Museum and Library, and, new this year, has planted a community garden plot with vegetables to be donated to the food pantry at Neighborhood Service Center on Port Street in Easton.
Great Pumpkin Night
Watch this space and other media! The first annual Great Pumpkin Night is scheduled for October, 2024. The public is invited to join the club and create their very own pumpkin – to be shown off that evening. Hot cider and donuts will be served at the evening viewing. After the viewing/party, take your pumpkin home for Halloween! Members will assist the youngest carvers/artists and serve cider and donuts. Come one, come all!
State House Christmas Tree
Every year garden clubs from all of Maryland decorate trees to add to the Holiday fun for all visitors. OGC joins Talbot County Garden Club to provide visitors with a tree representative of Talbot County, Maryland.
Memorial Day/Veterans’ Day
Each year, on Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day, the club hosts a ceremony to honor our troops and fallen military members. Wreaths are created and placed nearby the Blue Star Memorial marker in the town park. The short, meaningful blessings/ceremony invites the public to share their own memories of their service or their loved ones.
Christmas Party
Dec. 4, 2025, 12-3pm
Easton Village Clubhouse
Just for fun party! Members bring the party with them, arriving with dishes and beverages to share with all who come. Wine is served. Fun abounds with the “Steal the Gift” Secret Santa.

Garden Party
In June a garden party at a member’s home replaces the usual monthly meeting. Wear a hat – preferably a decorated hat!
Semi-annual activities
Two semi-annual activities are run by the club in alternating years. Both are “all hands on” for club members!
A flower show is held one year. This is free and open to the public. View floral-art presentations of every sort and horticultural masterpieces according to the season. Every 20 years OGC also holds a District I flower show – larger and inclusive of many more clubs (other district clubs hold district flower shows according to the District’s schedule).
Alternating with the flower shows is a large fund raiser. The funds raised allow the club to hire interesting speakers, purchase supplies, etc. for events, and provide donations to various entities.
Of course, socialization is always encouraged in this club! Most years a garden party takes the place of the June meeting, and a holiday party takes the place of the December meeting. Traditionally an “after hours” party takes place after the Secret Gardens tour.
