Relaxing stroll through charming Oxford, MD
We are all familiar with James Russell Lowell’s “What is so rare as a day in June,” but he lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts. If he had been so lucky as to live on the Eastern Shore, it would sing praises to that rare day in May.
Lowell suffered a cold, snowy winter such as we’ve just had every year. No wonder he was so enthralled with a “perfect day.”
After this past winter, we are all aching to enjoy a great stroll in great weather. If Lowell were lucky enough to enjoy a walk through Oxford, MD, on an enchanting day in May, adding to that a stroll through 6 appealing gardens there, too, perhaps he’d write a poem about it.
We are here, on the Eastern Shore, and, here, on the Eastern Shore, we can treat ourselves to the “Secret Gardens of Oxford Tour” on a sure to be perfect day, May 17.
A lovely stroll through charming Oxford, awash in roses, irises, Delphiniums, Snapdragons and perhaps even some tulips…viewing 6 carefully chosen gardens, some with a water-view perk. Add browsing through two – not one, but two – artist studios open to ticket holders that day, and you’ll have a day to blast winter’s memory into the far past and welcome the wonderful summer.
