Memorial Day Remembrance
May 26, 2025, 11am
Traditionally, the last Monday in May is an observance of Memorial Day, when all have the opportunity to remember – and thank – those who died in military service to our nation.
Originally called “Decoration Day,” the USA flag is flown at half mast from dawn until noon to commemorate, thank, and bless those who gave their all – for all the rest of us.
Remembrance will be led by Captain William Dial, US Navy (Ret.). Attendees are encouraged to voice the name of a veteran who passed away during a conflict, or one who served and has recently passed on. Those who serve today, or recently, are encouraged to wear full uniform or bring a picture of themselves in uniform.
There can be no more perfect music for this occasion than “Taps” which will be played by bagpiper Randy Walsh.

Pickering Creek Herb Garden
“Herbs for Fun, Flavor, and Health”
Convivial fun with a stroll through a beautifully planned and maintained Herb Garden with herbalist Marie Davis. Herbal collections abound. Here you’ll find anything from “Pizza Herbs” to healing herbs, and every one of them is edible.
Enjoy a gentle stroll and choose the herbs you want to gently prune to add a certain “je ne sais quoi” to your lunch.
Sheer fun in an “al fresco” and relaxed outing.

Veterans Day
November 11, 2025, 11am
The Armistice that ended WW I – “The Great War” was signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (11:00 am, November 11, 1918).
Originally called “Armistice Day,” Veteran’s Day pays tribute to all military veterans who have served in the U.S. armed forces. This day celebrates the heroism, bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism of those who serve, and provides an opportunity for the rest of us to express gratitude.
All members of the armed forces currently serving and those who have served before are invited to join the celebration. Wear your full uniform, or just bring a picture of yourself in uniform, and share your stories with all the rest of us. We all will hold your memories.
Attendees will receive a poppy for remembrance.
